A certain darkness is required to see the stars.
This is my painting of the still life. I chose to paint it on a small scale as I wanted it to be true to life. As you can see I did introduce some colour to represent the colour of the iridescent surfaces.I think it was important as I wanted to be able to achieve a realistic colour which wasn’t possible in just black and white. I also used some white gloss for the highlights to emphasise the gloss and shine of the surface. I was pleased with the outcome and enjoyed working on a more detailed project. Although this was fun to paint, It has made me think about whether I want to paint a representation of shine and Iridescence or whether I want to actually create it. I think I would rather be creating the surface than making a painting of it as this doesn’t really produce an interesting, captivating effect which I wish to achieve.
